CATÁLOGO DE INVESTIGACIONES | AÑO ACADÉMICO 2014-2015 167 Linux use and students satisfaction People are using Linux and Open Source Software but they do not know what they are using or what it is called even. The purpose of the research is to quantify Linux use and its user’s satisfaction. Research consists of gathering quantifiable data from seminars with the structure of a basic computer class at the Pontifical Catholic University, Mayagüez and Ponce Campus and three (3) other schools. Process includes data gathering (seminar attendees only), data cleaning and standard statistical analysis using MS-Excel. Preliminary results indicate people do not know what Linux is, but they use it on different levels on a daily basis. Since this is an exploratory research, a new and extended research should be done in the future to compare results. josé b. rodríguez rueda maestría en administración de empresas con especialidad en sistemas de información gerencial mentor: dra. maría g. rosa rosario linux open source software user’s satisfaction
