The aim of the present study was to explore the possible correlations of proactive coping efficacy and aggression in a sample of adult Puerto Rican males in the Southern region of Puerto Rico. A data sample of adult Puerto Rican males between the ages of 21-69 (N=205) was collected regarding proactive coping efficacy, types of overt aggression and displaced aggression. The moderating variables of level of education, emotional support seeking and preventive coping was observed in order to explain some possible differences in proactive coping efficacy and types of aggression. The Self-report instruments used were the Proactive Coping Inventory (PCI-S) (Spanish Version), the Displaced Aggression Questionnaire (DAQ) (Spanish version) (DAQ-S), and the Brief Aggression Questionnaire (Spanish version) (BAQ-S). A Quantitative analysis was conducted using SPSS 23, to determine descriptive statistics, Pearson Product Moment Correlations and ANOVA. The results indicate that 51% of the participants were proactive copers. Proactive coping efficacy, level of education and emotional support seeking tended to influence aggressive tendencies either positively or negatively. Puerto Rican male participants between the ages of 33-38-years old tended to use anger as their means of aggression, while 61-69 year old Puerto Rican male participants used displaced aggression to express their discontent. Generational characteristics and psychosocial development appears also to have a correlation with the current sample results. betty a. rivera sánchez doctorado en filosofía con especialidad en psicología clínica mentor: dra. ilia rosario nieves proactive coping aggression displaced aggression
