54 CIENCIAS Exposition of Caenorhabditis elegans to CdSTe and CdSSe QDs Caenorhabditis elegans have been widely studied in the field of science, especially in medicine. They have been used to study the genetics of their development, and nervous system. C. elegans lives at temperature environment and they eat microorganism (E.coli). Each adult hermaphrodite places from two hundred to three hundred eggs. The average lifetime of an adult in the laboratory at room temperature (20-25oC) is from two to three weeks. The goal of this research is determine the effect of CdSTe and CdSSe nanoparticles on C.elegans . Nanoparticles are particles that measure less than 100 nanometers. Metal nanoparticles can be made with metals such as gold, silver, titanium, cadmium, among others. Quantum dots (QDs) are semiconductor nanoparticles with optical and electrical properties. They emit light if energy (i.e. electricity. Photons) is applied. The incorporation or adsorption of CdSSe and CdSTe in C. elegans can be observed through microscopy fluorescence. melissa velázquez rodríguez investigación especial en ciencias mentor: dr. luis álamo nole caenorhabditis elegans quantum dots cdsste cdsse exposition
