CATÁLOGO DE INVESTIGACIONES | AÑO ACADÉMICO 2017-2018 55 Effects of CdSTe QD son Candida tropicalis yeast Nanoparticles (NP) are a class of nanoscopic materials, where at least one of their dimensions is between 1 and 100nm. The science that studies nanomaterials is known as nanotechnology, which has a great application in engineering, biomedical, electronics, among others. There are different types of nanoparticles, the NPs based on metals are the most notable for their magnetic, optical and electronic conduction properties. This type of nanoparticle is known as quantum dots (QD) or fluorescent nanoparticle due to its photoluminescence property. There are several methods to carry out the synthesis of nanoparticles such as colloidal method, photochemical and radiochemical reduction, the use of dendrimers and microwave irradiation. The synthesis using microwave-assisted heating has been one of the most used methods because of its speed, effectiveness and uniformity. The microwave synthesis of CdSTe QDs were performed at 60, 120 and 150oC. Then, the effect of the CdSte QDs on Candida tropicalis yeast was evaluated. C. tropicalis is present naturally in animals and humans, mainly in the gastrointestinal and urinary tract. Harmful symptoms are constipation, diarrhea, indigestion and abdominal pain. nixaheliz berrocales berrocales investigación especial en ciencias mentor: dr. luis álamo nole incorporation quantum dots cdsste candida tropicalis
