100 actas del xii congreso católicos y vida pública ingrained, faith and reason, it is ingrained in how the university has been founded, so however John Paul II in Ex corde Ecclesie provides not so much elaboration on the interreligious dialogue in the catholic university, this neither impedes reflection on the topic nor diminishes its dialogical leads about the special vocation of the catholic university to contribute to the interreligious dialogue. And by interreligious dialogue in the catholic university we mean, of course, it is the dialogue between the students, but I will also include in the dialogue faculty, students, administrators, and staff from different religions. Ex corde Ecclesiae calls, not for interreligious dialogue, but for a cultural dialogue which goes hand in hand, in my view, with interreligious dialogue. This is what is stated in Ex corde Ecclesiae A catholic university enables the church to institute a fertile dialogue with people of every culture. So it is the cultural dialogue that prevails. Now a catholic university must become culturally sensitive starting with the different cultures of the faculty, students, administrators, and staff, but also extending to the various cultural traditions existing within the church. And this really asks for a discernment, on the part of the faculty, on the part of the administration, etc. Religion is impactful on culture and, as an identity maker, both religion and culture are really interwoven. You cannot separate one from the other. So I think that in this intercultural dialogue that John Paul II was talking about here, is also the interreligious dialogue because religion is part of culture, is culture, is an identity mark. So consequently, intercultural dialogue is in fact interreligious dialogue and one does not study culture without studying religion, they go hand in hand. Besides assigning them a role in ecumenism or inter christian dialogue, Ex corde Ecclesiae asked catholic universities to engage into interreligious intercultural dialogue to assess in discerning the spiritual values that are present in all religions. Although the interreligious dialogue is not spelled out clearly, it is in the spirit of the letter of Ex corde Ecclesiae. What Ex corde Ecclesiae intends and invites in catholic university campuses is engagement with different cultures and different religions. I can add, as well as study of and reflect on other religions, giving value to their neighbors´ spirituality.
